Description

In 2025, Kerala will host the 5th World Teak Conference organized by the Kerala Forest Research Institute and coordinated by the International Teak Information Network (TEAKNET) India. The past four World Teak Conferences were held in Asian and Latin American countries; the first one in Costa Rica (2011), followed by Bangkok (2013) Ecuador (2015) and Ghana (2022).

Kerala holds special significance in the history of teak plantation, with Nilambur being home to the world’s oldest teak plantation. With its extensive background in teak research, the Kerala Forest Research Institute seized the opportunity to host this international event in Cochin from 17-19 September 2025.

This Conference will be a great opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences on technological innovations and stay up to date on the emerging trends in teak management and trade. It will provide a major meeting place for worldwide researchers, students, entrepreneurs and professionals in the forestry sector to come together, share their knowledge and establish networks.
